For over 40 years, I have had an interest in holistic health and healing. I was always the person who would offer to rub the back or shoulders of a friend or family member. I started on my path as a massage therapist in 1984 when I graduated from the National Holistic Institute in Oakland, CA as a Certified Massage Therapist. I started out working at spas and eventually had a private practice until 1995 when I moved to Oregon with my husband. At that point, I took a 22-year hiatus from professionaly practicing bodywork. My husband and I started a business and then I became a stay-at-home mom.
In 2017, at the encouragement of my husband and daughter, I enrolled at Rogue Community College to review and advance my massage training and gain the required 625 hours needed to become licensed in Oregon. While there I gained distinction by being on the Presidents List with a 4.0 grade average and was recognized with a special Outstanding Honors Student award by the head of the Massage Therapy department. In the summer of 2018, I received my Oregon Massage Therapy License. In 2023 I became Nationally Board Certified throught the NCBTMB.
In my studies, I have learned techniques from many modalities including Shiatsu, Myofacial Release, Pregnancy and Infant Massage, Caring Touch for cancer patients, Deep Tissue and Trigger Point therapy in addition to the standard Swedish Massage. I am currently persuing advanced studies in Craniosacral Therapy with the goal of it becoming my primary modality. I am also a second degree Reiki practitioner. I find that each of these has its place and use those most appropriate for the individual that I am working with.
Additionally, I have studied meridian tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and have used this with clients who are looking for a life coaching element to move beyond habitual patterns and beliefs.
I have also studied at the California School of Herbal Studies and integrate my knowledge of herbs and aromatherapy into my own line of body creams and lotions.
I believe the body has its own innate healing capacity and see my role as a facilitator to gently coax it into greater wholeness and well-being. It is an honor to help my clients move into a place of relaxation, calm, and peace.
